SHOW & THEATRE PRODUCTION · ALMATY

Technical production for shows and theatre

We design a stage production as one dramaturgical system: performers, scenery, lighting score, audio, video, mechanics, special effects and scene transitions operate from one master cue sheet.

05

Finale and bow

Climax, final effect, applause cue, full-company bow and show close.

  • main and backup playback
  • cue synchronization
05 · MECHANICS / FX

Mechanics and special effects

Rigging, flying systems, moving elements, haze, CO₂, confetti and safe effects.

  • operator zones
  • safety interlocks
  • GO/HOLD procedure
06 · CONTROL

Show control and backstage

Show caller, stage manager, intercom, cue sheet, call sheet and full rehearsal.

  • single GO command
  • cue-to-cue rehearsal
  • contingency playbook

PRODUCTION FORMATS

Architecture matched to show and production format

An intimate theatre performance, a concert show and a large multimedia production require different stage systems, crews and rehearsal plans.

THEATRE PERFORMANCE

Theatre performance

Dramaturgy, actors, scenery, speech and precise scene changes.

  • scenography and props
  • theatre lighting
  • wireless microphones / ambience
  • stage management

MULTIMEDIA PRODUCTION

Multimedia production

Complex scenography, video, mechanics, multiple acts and a large cast.

  • LED / mapping
  • timecode and media servers
  • stage mechanics
  • full redundancy

SHOW CONTROL MATRIX

One show control connects the director, performers, stage and technical departments

Every participant knows their call time and cue, while every GO command passes through one control point.

DRAMATURGY → CUE → GO

How a directorial idea becomes a precise stage cue

Every scene passes through the same production cycle — concept, technical design, programming, rehearsal and GO.

01

Dramaturgy

The director defines the scene meaning, pace, transition and emotional result.

02

Technical design

The team translates the idea into scenography, lighting, audio, video, mechanics and effects.

03

Programming

Systems are programmed, content is loaded and the cue sheet is assembled into one structure.

04

Rehearsal

Cue-to-cue and dress rehearsal test performers, transitions and technical responses.

05

GO

The show caller gives the command, departments execute the cue and confirm the next scene status.

PRODUCTION DOCUMENTS

Documents that turn a production into a controlled show

Before load-in and rehearsals, we lock stage, signals, performers, cues and backup solutions.

01

Stage & scenery plot

Stage, scenery, paths, props and technical zones.

02

Master cue sheet

Every command for lighting, audio, video, mechanics, FX and performers.

03

Lighting & media bible

Lighting scenes, playback, content, timecode and file versions.

04

Performer / mic matrix

Performers, microphones, monitoring, entrances and backstage calls.

05

Rigging & safety plan

Flying systems, loads, moving elements, safety zones and stop-work procedure.

06

Contingency playbook

Backup playback, cue substitutions and responses to technical failures.

STAGE INFRASTRUCTURE

The production as layered stage infrastructure

A coherent result appears only when artistic and technical layers are designed together.

FIVE PRODUCTION LAYERS

Dramaturgy → Stage → Performance → Technology → Control

Dramaturgical layerActs, scenes, transitions, climaxes and finale.
Scenographic layerScenery, props, stage geometry and mechanics.
Performance layerActors, performers, musicians, dancers and backstage.
Technical layerLighting, audio, video, effects, rigging and power.
Control layerShow caller, intercom, cue sheet, rehearsals and backup.

Cue-to-cue rehearsal

We isolate transitions and difficult technical moments until every cue is stable.

Full dress rehearsal

The production runs in costume with content, microphones, effects and real timing.

Safe mechanics

Every moving scenery or flying action has an operator, safety zone and stop procedure.

Show report

After rehearsal and performance, we log changes, errors, file versions and recommendations for the next show.

WORKFLOW

From directorial concept to final bow

01

Brief and script

We receive the directorial concept, format, venue, performer lineup and key scenes.

02

Technical design

We develop stage, lighting, audio, video, mechanics, FX and show-control topology.

03

Pre-production

We assemble the cue sheet, files, call sheet, mic matrix and safety plans.

04

Load-in and programming

We build the stage, focus lighting and configure audio, video, intercom and effects.

05

Rehearsals

We run technical rehearsal, cue-to-cue and a full dress rehearsal.

06

Show and report

We call the production from the cue sheet, log changes and save the show file.

FAQ

Questions about show and theatre technical production

What is included in technical production for a stage show?+

Stage and scenery, lighting, audio, wireless microphones, playback, LED or projection, rigging, mechanics, special effects, intercom, show caller and technical crew.

When should a technical producer join the project?+

Ideally during script and scenography development, so creative decisions account for the venue, loads, signals, setup time and safety.

Is a full dress rehearsal required?+

Yes. A full run is essential for productions with complex cues, scenery, performers, video or effects.

What is a cue-to-cue rehearsal?+

It is a rehearsal of technical transitions without playing every scene in full. It quickly checks lighting, audio, video, mechanics and entrances.

Can the show be synchronized with timecode?+

Yes. Timecode can link playback, lighting, video and selected effects, while critical transitions remain under show-caller control.

How are audio and playback backed up?+

We use main and backup playback, spare wireless microphones, duplicated critical signals and prepared recovery scenarios.

Do you work with moving scenery?+

Yes, when engineering calculations, safety zones, operators and a full technical rehearsal are in place.

Can you provide multicamera recording of the production?+

Yes. We design the camera plot, program feed, ISO recording, clean audio and archival delivery.

How is the cost calculated?+

By venue, scenography, number of performers and scenes, system scope, mechanical complexity, rehearsal count and redundancy requirements.

Do you work outside Almaty?+

Yes. REAL SOUND delivers projects in Almaty and other cities across Kazakhstan with a traveling technical crew.
